Hello there

Angela Uherbelau

As a mom and literacy and racial equity activist, I’ve used Twitter to rail against income inequality and injustice. As a new gardener, I started filling my Instagram with flowers. If you looked at both together, you might think: is this the same person?!? We all contain multitudes.

I started giving virtual #Portland4PeopleFlowers in gratitude for the righteous work being done across our beloved city to lift one another up.

I need help sometimes. Every one of us needs help sometimes. There’s no shame in that.

Yet, some of the city’s most powerful voices are putting considerable resources behind a campaign that - whether intentional or not - stigmatizes and dismisses those of us without power and without resources.

That paid-for version of Portland’s past, present and future isn’t the only one. Our city contains multitudes.
